Otherwise I have to call other people, wade through email or whatsapp conversations to come across a piece of information. Evernote is ideal if you want independent notes that are primarily accessed by search Additionally if you want to search by keywords there is the option to filter results by notebook, section, section group, within current page. If you want to to find notes by following an hierarchy, OneNote is better. You could simulate hierarchy by nesting tags. Evernote's philosophy is built around note acting as independent units that are found by easily by searching. This is kinda hard to achieve in evernote. I find that its' better to keep a relatively flat hierarchy. I rarely use them since my class notebooks are more simple. You could group related sections into section groups that can nested hierarcies. I could make them subpages of lecture 1 and collapse them.
I have some additional pages of information that is related to Lecture 1. Use case example : I have a page for Lecture 1 that has the slide and my annotations. But you can only collapse the first level. You could next notes in a section upto 3 levels.
